Nearly four years, 200 episodes and not one missed Friday
Halifax-based Eh! We Started a Podcast is marking its 200th episode with a live celebration and fundraiser at the Toothy Moose on Friday, September 18, from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Regular hosts Jon Kizzy, aka Philly G, King Tygga, DJ Laton and Ray Rey will record the milestone episode in front of a live audience before turning the night over to a lineup of local performers.
The podcast officially launched on December 2, 2022, and the team says it has released a new episode every Friday since.
“We are really proud that we reached 200 episodes without ever missing a Friday,” the team told BlackNovaScotia.ca. “Nearly four years of consistency dropping a new episode every Friday.”

The milestone event is also a fundraiser for the podcast itself.
Eh! We Started a Podcast currently operates without sponsors, and the hosts say some of the equipment they have relied on throughout the show’s run is beginning to malfunction and needs to be replaced. They would also like to move beyond filming on a phone and purchase a dedicated camera for the podcast, something the team says it currently cannot afford.
That makes the 200th episode both a celebration of what they have already built and an effort to make sure they can continue building it.
Performers confirmed so far include Breezy Borden, Jake Mercer, Mayaya, NDM, AllieKat, QSTATESS and Snez, with additional performers still to be announced.
Eh! We Started a Podcast is also featured in the BlackNovaScotia.ca Black Media directory, a growing collection of Black Nova Scotian and Atlantic Canadian podcasts, video and web series, radio programs, television projects, archives, festivals, digital platforms and other storytelling resources.
The show’s consistency is part of why projects like this are worth documenting. Independent Black media often gets built without large production budgets, institutional backing or major sponsorships. Reaching 200 episodes while maintaining a weekly release schedule represents years of recording, producing, organizing and creating space for local voices and conversations.
