Why Support
BlackNovaScotia.ca?

BlackNovaScotia.ca will always remain free and publicly accessible. Your support helps cover the costs of maintaining and expanding the platform, including website hosting, photography, video production, travel, interviews, records requests, equipment, and the countless hours required to research, document, preserve, and share stories that matter.

From time to time, Patreon supporters may receive early access to content, behind-the-scenes updates, previews of upcoming projects, bonus material, and other supporter perks as available. However, the primary purpose of your support is to help sustain and strengthen BlackNovaScotia.ca for the long term.

Our Story:

BlackNovaScotia.ca began as a Facebook page over 15 years ago for a simple reason. Many local news organizations removed stories from their websites after a short period of time. Important stories involving Black Nova Scotians were disappearing from public view. What began as an effort to preserve and share those stories so they would remain accessible has grown into a comprehensive digital platform and archive dedicated to telling our stories, our way.

Transparency:

BlackNovaScotia.ca operates under the registered business name Black Nova Scotian Digital Resource Centre and Archive, registered with the Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stock Companies.

We are committed to transparency, accountability, and using supporter contributions to strengthen this vital community.
