About BlackNovaScotia.ca
BlackNovaScotia.ca is an independent digital resource dedicated to documenting, preserving, and sharing the stories, history, culture, achievements, and current events of Black Nova Scotians.
Originally launched as a Facebook page on May 2, 2010, the project began as a way to help ensure important stories affecting Black Nova Scotians remained visible and accessible. Over time, it grew beyond social media into a searchable website and expanding digital archive that brings together news, history, interviews, community announcements, videos, original reporting, and educational resources in one place.
Today, BlackNovaScotia.ca serves as both a current community resource and a growing historical archive, preserving stories that might otherwise become difficult to find or disappear altogether.
Our coverage includes:
– Black Nova Scotian history
– Community news and events
– Original reporting and interviews
– Arts, culture, and achievements
– Education and public policy
– Social justice and community initiatives
– Historical preservation and archival content
– Resources for individuals, organizations, and educators
The goal has remained the same since 2010: to help connect people with stories that matter while preserving them for future generations.
Thank You
BlackNovaScotia.ca would not exist without the support of its readers, contributors, interview guests, partner organizations, and everyone who has shared stories, photographs, videos, events, and historical information over the years.
