In the Black: Canada — Our Voices, Our Stories is a digital media and storytelling platform dedicated to preserving and sharing Black Canadian voices, histories and lived experiences.
The platform brings together multiple forms of storytelling, including written profiles and stories, photography, artist works, short-form audio projects and podcasts. Rather than functioning as a single publication or series, it acts as an umbrella for projects documenting Black Canadian people, families, creativity and community experiences.
Among its most substantial projects is I Am Black History, the Donna Paris-hosted podcast collecting first-person personal and family histories from Black Canadians. Together, the site’s different formats create a multimedia archive through which Black Canadians can document their histories in their own words and voices.
