I Am Black History is an oral-history and storytelling podcast hosted by Donna Paris and presented through the broader In the Black: Canada platform.

Across a large catalogue of episodes, Black Canadians are invited to tell their own stories and preserve personal and family histories that might otherwise remain undocumented. Conversations explore identity, ancestry, community, migration, racism, culture, family memories, accomplishments and the experiences that have shaped people’s lives.

The project includes voices from Nova Scotia as well as Black communities elsewhere in Canada, making the series both a contemporary podcast and a growing collection of first-person Black Canadian history.

I think “oral-history and storytelling podcast” is an important phrase here. Having now distinguished it from In the Black: Canada, that is really what makes this specific project stand apart.
