GeneratioNS: Black Memories of Nova Scotia is a documentary television series created, hosted and directed by African Nova Scotian artist and storyteller Lance Sampson, also known as Aquakultre.
The series travels throughout Nova Scotia’s historic Black communities, bringing together elders, young people and families to explore community history, family lineages, culture and lived experience. Rather than treating African Nova Scotian history only as a story of the distant past, GeneratioNS connects generations and examines how history continues to shape families and communities today.
Season 1 of the series is available online through Eastlink’s YouTube channel. Season 2 is airing on Eastlink Community TV, with episodes scheduled Tuesdays at 6 p.m.
